Film Review
After the events of 9/11, Osama bin Laden became the most wanted man in the world. In Zero Dark Thirty a group of Navy Seals go on a nighttime man hunt on the compound where bin Laden is hiding. This film endures violence, scenes of nudity, profanity, and gore. It has a R rating and should not be seen by young viewers. Rated R means that viewers under the age of 17 years of age need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian above the age of 18.

In this film violence, sexual innuendos, and profanity are used. It is not meant for a child, but for those who are of the age of 17 or older. The reason for this being listed as rated R, is because of its violence, sexual innuendos, and profanity. Many younger middle school age kids might not fully understand the meaning behind some of the things presented in this movie, but also can learn to do things that are presented as bad things in this movie. They might take the negative things found in this movie. It has great learning opportunities to learn history, but also this movie is based on a true story with real events that took place. The movie takes us on a trip through the attempt to and assassinate of Osama bin Laden. This is a great movie and we can learn a lot of good information from this movie. The only downside is the rating is not for young viewers, and this is a good thing. We all can learn from it, but some might be to much for those of a younger age, and therefore it protects those that might not be old enough to watch it.

  1. This topic interests me very much. I think that alone would make me want to watch the movie. But I wish you would have given more insight to what the movie was all about?

    1. This is one of my favorite movies. I like the complex story and the way Maya being a single women in the entire crew, tries to prove herself right in front of her dominating male colleagues. The story is very thrilling and focuses the ways in which the the most wanted man was found.

  2. As being apart of the Military, it's understanding why this movie should be rated R. I have personally experience of the violence and there is also a lot of sexual talk. It was a platoon full of guys, what do you expect. There can be learning lessons for people in this movie but not kids. War is nasty and people don't understand that. For the most part good topic discussing about R rated films and why there rated the way they are. Some sentences are short and quick with no flow.
